Updated to v1.3.1

There was a bug in basic2d.Map that would cause the wrong tiles to be used which could result in a wrong path. This has been fixed in v1.3.1

I also forgot to make a blog post about v1.3. I realeased it a few months ago and it’s a pretty major upgrade from v1.2 so be sure to check it out. You can find more details about the new features on the download page and in the Astar.as comments.

It seems that also v 1.3.1 generate “strange” paths, with FullClipAnalyzer if you wanna walk from 0,0 to 5,5 (for example) it doesn’t give you a straight path like

    | _______
    | |
    | |
    |_____ or |

    But more a “stairs” like

    __
    |__
    |__
    |

Also tried using your sample code in “Overview” and same problem (with both version 1.3 and 1.3.1) 🙁

Sorry, I noticed that in my previous comment the structure lose the spacing so it’s not understandable :D, I try with traces…instead of be

    (x: 0, y: 0)
    (x: 0, y: 1)
    (x: 0, y: 2)
    (x: 0, y: 3)
    (x: 0, y: 4)
    (x: 0, y: 5)
    (x: 1, y: 5)
    (x: 2, y: 5)
    (x: 3, y: 5)
    (x: 4, y: 5)
    (x: 5, y: 5)

    It gives

    (x=0, y=0)
    (x=0, y=1)
    (x=1, y=1)
    (x=1, y=2)
    (x=2, y=2)
    (x=2, y=3)
    (x=3, y=3)
    (x=3, y=4)
    (x=4, y=4)
    (x=5, y=4)
    (x=5, y=5)

Uploaded a sample to show the problem

    http://www.flashgamesdevelopment.com/AStar/Test.swf

On the v1.1 demo (http://www.dauntless.be/Projects/AstarAS3/Demo/) it gives the right result (setting start on 0,0 and on 5,5 make the char move first on vertical until y=5 and then in horizontal)

    Some help ? Thanks 😀

The behavior that you don’t want, is often preferred as it is more realistic. I’m updating my classes to v1.4 today and I’ll add some functionality so that you can have more straight lines in your path. I’ll be adding the possibility to add a rotational cost, which is what you’ll need (according to the example you sent me by mail).

I’ll send you an email when it’s done so you can test it 🙂

    Ehy Dauntless,
thanks for the quick reply 🙂
That’s a great nes…I’ll wait for the update then, great! 🙂

BTW, your class is really cool, actually is the most complete AS3 A* class I found around, congrats for the great work and thanks for the effort to keeping it updated!
